Calling Out

June 11, 2009

I had bad feelingĀ  that the past few weeks would suck and I was right. While our manager was on vacation one of the girls called out of work. Granted she did have a good reason (her grandmother passed away) but that forced me to work a double (8:30 am to 9:30 pm). I tried calling around in the area to see if anyone could cover it, but I always get the same answer “NO!” I am getthing rather tired with the company I work with. They are all about customer service, but they really don’t give a damn about their employees. Which is like most of retail so what can you do. I am sure other people have had to work longer than me, but still, it was lame.

I’ll totally work for you if it were possible…I haven’t worked in a week! My job is cutting hours left and right and I’ve been on-call, which basically now means I am not working. They just put me on just in case someone calls out.

That is a long-ass shift, I’ve only worked that long once or twice and I was furious because I wasn’t supposed to. Retail sucks. :[

I know exactly how you feel. On my first day of work I came in at 12 pm and a girl called out so I had to work till 12am. It was horrible. D:

The fact that you could still draw and type after your eyes popped out is amazing!

Retail stores are ALWAYS understaffed on purpose… to save money. But when life happens, and people have to call in, everyone else suffers. I’m so not in love with my job
